In the Booth with Ruth – Sheila Quigley, Author
What’s your writing background? When did you begin writing and what inspired you?
I started telling stories very early on, the first thing I really wrote apart from essays and such for school was a play which my friend and I performed when we were eleven years old.
How often do you write? And how do you manage to fit in writing among other commitments?
Everyday…Have to it’s my job…everything else fits in around it…That’s after the hounds have been fed and watered.
In which genre do you most enjoy writing?
Crime fiction although the first book I wrote was a horror about a biker gang. This did the rounds for a while then as it was going no where, because horror was not in fashion at the time, Oh Yes genre fiction goes round and round, look what’s hot at the moment!…Anyhow I wrote a comedy drama screen play, sent it off and the day my agent got it he phoned up and said this is brilliant but will you write a crime thriller set in the north east.
Will I? Within five minutes I had started Run For Home…I am now on with my 9th crime thriller.
What draws you to write in that genre?
I enjoy it so much that I can’t see me doing anything else…Well perhaps not yet.
Can you tell me about your current project(s)?
Stand By Me is my 6th Seahills book, after a break of 3 books in the Holy Island Trilogy, Thorn In My Side…Nowhere Man…the 3rd The Final Countdown is out in mid December.
To keep on with the Seahills, although I may revisit the Holy Island lot again, who knows, never say never.
