Mentor to Entrepreneurs, Mark Sephton, Talks About His New Book ‘Inside Job’

Mark Sephton

Can you tell me about your new book Inside Job?

Inside Job is built on your capability to work on the way you think, act and behave. Your beliefs about who you are determine your behaviour. The way we think, our attitude and mindset toward ourselves is an ’inside job’. Discovering your own identity and purpose is paramount to achieving extraordinary shifts in the way you live, develop and advance. In this way, you can fully understand who you are and live out of your own identity.

As a society, we’re only one thought away from a cure for AIDS and cancer. We must create an environment where we each intentionally strengthen our ability to harvest the thoughts that could bring liberation, breakthrough and success – not just for ourselves but for our communities and our world. You can find out more by watching this short video.

What inspired you to write it?

I believe each of us has a story to tell. We can recollect moments in our life which shaped, changed and challenged our core purpose and identity. The knowledge of those I have already impacted personally and professionally has really given credence to sharing my story on a mass scale, encouraging and championing all to find who they are and create a life which brings extreme levels of satisfaction and revolutionary upturns and shifts in creative environments and cultures.

Can you tell me about your work as a mentor to entrepreneurs?

I built a GPS system which is based on eight key fundamentals of what I believe makes up a person’s basic DNA. The GPS tool is similar to an internal MRI; it reveals blind spots, efficiencies and deficiencies, and this is the premise for the groundwork I do with each entrepreneur. My mentoring really is about people development and connecting entrepreneurs’ heads with their hearts. I have been fortunate to work with a vast array of experienced and start-up individuals from a wide range of entrepreneurial backgrounds, which has resulted in a global reach of clients.

The GPS results determine the ongoing relationship and focus we take. I have seen an upshift in many entrepreneurs’ lives through using this tool, coupled with my ability to introduce new habits, mindset shifts and rituals that create an improvement and equip clients for their entrepreneurial lives.

Many of the concepts and thoughts I share in Inside Job explain what work I have been doing with entrepreneurs over the past few years.

How did you become a mentor and have you had to undertake quite extensive training to do this?

My background was in hospitality and retail. At a young age, I became familiar with managing, leading and developing people. I have always been a huge fan of developing communities within the marketplace and engaging with individuals to leverage success and personal growth. These experiences left me with a natural appetite to want to improve and develop myself while establishing my own entrepreneurial business. I invested time and money into leadership courses, business and life coaching diplomas, and took from each area that which really resonated with me.

Thankfully people naturally confide and open up to me. The ability to listen and bring reassurance has been paramount to the growth of my business. I totally believe that when you stop learning, you stop growing. Because of this, my clients all know I am constantly looking at improving myself and encouraging them also, and as I improve, my service and support to them significantly increases as well.

Mark Sephton Inside JobYou say Inside Job is built on one’s capability to work on the way they think, act and behave. Can you expand on this?

Everything that we have started with a thought: what we drive, what we wear, who we hang out with. Daily, we are making hundreds of choices that start in the core of our minds. Knowing this, we must give credence to the ability to create based on the thoughts we entertain ourselves with. I want people to be empowered, so that they can create the life they want. It really does start with the thought.

A thought in itself without being fuelled by action will only ever be a thought. We can’t allow the game-changing, groundbreaking thoughts we have not to form legs and grow substance. We need the confidence and knowledge of how to take a thought and put it into action. Inside Job helps you to do this.

When you are creating thoughts which are then fuelled by action, it is incredible how you behave. You see each of us behave on the basis of our beliefs. So when we believe in what we are thinking, then act on our thoughts, it naturally impacts on our behavior. That is exciting!

Is there a particular message in the book you’d like readers to understand?

Yes, it’s simply to encourage each of you to have the audacity to not just think and dream, but to act. To create your own personal revolution, to fully discover who you are and what you are capable of and get to work.
