In the Booth with a Book
I started writing as a way through the process. Of navigating what was happening. It started off as a blog. Then it just grew. People started having an active interest in it. The writing. The experience. I kept going. I didn't know it was going to be a book when I started. I was just writing as a way to get through.
From my early teens I have written diaries documenting these struggles: my thoughts, feelings, dreams, desires and innermost emotions are expressed through periods of bullying, dieting, drinking too much, heartache, chasing the wrong things in life, the wrong men, living in different counties, and ultimately searching for my peace and, of course, true love and balance.
'Inside Job' is built on your capability to work on the way you think, act and behave. Your beliefs about who you are determine your behaviour. The way we think, our attitude and mindset toward ourselves is an ’inside job’. Discovering your own identity and purpose is paramount to achieving extraordinary shifts in the way you live, develop and advance.
In terms of the focus on Sweden’s sex purchase law, I was particularly struck by the extent to which the law is internationally influential, but in a context where the law hadn’t been involvedly evaluated by the Swedish government and where much work produced on the topic seemed hugely biased, and...
The eagerly awaited autobiography of 'Freeway' Rick Ross has just been released. A notorious drug kingpin reigning over Los Angeles, California and operating across numerous other states, Rick was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1996. But following the discovery his drug source was linked to the CIA and he had been used as a pawn in the Iran–Contra scandal, he received a reduced sentence.
Lady in Red is back to the Seahills and mainly back to the Lumsdon family who had centre stage in book one Run for Home, which has recently been made into a very successful stage play. It's every writer’s dream to see their work on stage, TV, or film, and the feeling was unexplainable, try laughing and crying at the same time, and it still won’t come close.
As I began to heal my own life, I began to care much more about the Earth. There is a very real connection between the violence committed against women around the world and violence against the Earth. 'Mother Earth' explores some of those connections in words children and adults can absorb... I hope the book will be a discussion piece for the generations, which will spurn action.
I’m now perceived as an author, a title I like very much and certainly it’s much better than being labelled a gangster that’s for sure... I can channel this fresh, positive energy into things which are a million miles removed from those that defined my life before. Writing has also given me a newfound purpose, a sense of direction, and an enthusiastic aptitude to move forward in a different light whilst simultaneously putting the past firmly behind me.
My new book is actually a collection of short stories called 'Who Likes Short Shorts?' I've included samples of all my other books, so hopefully people will enjoy the stories and reading a little bit about how I came to write them... Most of my writing is done on the day I sit down. I have ideas in my head but rarely make notes of them. During the writing process, I’ll leave little notes for myself, but not before.
