In the Booth with Ruth – Juliet Madison, Author

Juleit Madison

What’s your writing background? When did you begin writing and what inspired you?

I started writing stories when I was very young. I get inspired by people and things that I go through in my own life.

How often do you write? And how do you manage to fit in writing among other commitments?

I try to do a little writing every day. Anyone who knows me knows that I am fervently against becoming a parent so as such I have a lot of free time as I don’t have to deal with the requisite constant demands of kids or pets. I have a rubbish paid part-time office cleaning jobs so I don’t have evenings but I write every spare moment I can, when I’m not working my way through my kindle TBR list and helping support fellow Indies with blog interviews etc.

In which genre do you most enjoy writing?

Crime. I am really enjoying doing the DI Frank Lyle Mystery series.

What draws you to write in that genre?

I have read almost nothing but crime novels for years so I wanted to see if I could pull it off.

Can you tell me about your current project(s)?

I am currently working on Heir to Misfortune, the second title in the DI Frank Lyle mystery series. Here is the blurb.

DI Frank Lyle is about to be tested almost beyond the limits of his patience.

Winter 1990. The discovery of a vagrant’s alcohol-saturated corpse is nothing unusual. But a routine enquiry at Ashbeck Council opens the door to a case of murder, blackmail and corruption amongst the pillars of Ashbeck society.

Why was Alex Carnegie – heir to a corporate fortune – living rough on the streets of Ashbeck? Lyle and his team soon discover that Carnegie was the keeper of a dark secret which, if exposed, could topple pillars of Ashbeck society.

The suspects are many and varied. As the investigation continues, two more murders challenge the status quo. As Lyle digs deeper, he finds that all is not what it seems but the truth is even darker and more sinister than ever he could have imagined.

What are your writing plans for the future?

Right now my main priority is to finish and self-publish Heir to Misfortune. I am hoping to finish it by the end of the summer. I have a couple of blog interviews scheduled for the next couple of months then in November I will be taking part in NanoWriMo where I will start the third DI Frank Lyle novel but I have no ideas what that one will be called yet or what the plot will be.

Where can people find out more about you?

You can follow me on Twitter @JulietBMadison.

You can buy the first DI Frank Lyle mystery Second Chances and if you can, please leave a review. It’s available on LuluAmazon US and Amazon UK.
