We know them. We all know a woman who struggles with drugs and alcohol. Perhaps she’s a woman in your family, a friend or even a co-worker, but we know them. If you have not been a drug addict then you cannot know what they go through. You can’t imagine the pain they feel from moment to moment and the things that they are driven to do because of that addiction.... I cover some pretty disturbing storylines when writing, and whilst most of my readers enjoy my books, I know that some readers will find some of the subject matter difficult to read. But the issues I cover do happen, they are out there. And with every dark, murky tale, there is always a survivor: a strong person who battles through their harsh reality somehow, and that is what I champion.

My debut thriller, CUT SHORT, was inspired by an encounter with a stranger in my local park... It genuinely never occurred to me that anyone else would ever read my narrative, let alone publish it. The story that arose out of that brief encounter in the park went on to be published as CUT SHORT, shortlisted for a 2010 CWA Dagger Award for Best First Crime Novel...

We provide information, help and support to individual prostitute women and others who are concerned with sex workers’ human, civil, legal and economic rights."

Once in a while, random words come to mind in the way of a hook and how to give those words meaning might come along later.

Trista Hendren, Co-Founder of Rapebook, Discusses Facebook’s Issue of Child Sex Abuse Images and Human Trafficking

August 14, 2013 // 13 Comments

I do not believe Facebook has done nearly enough... They must have a zero tolerance policy on images of child sex abuse and human trafficking... Facebook does not have to be a platform for rapists, pedophiles, men who beat up and kill women or other criminals. The way I see things now, Facebook is no better than a hotel owner who rents out a room to a creepy man with a half-naked child and listens to her scream while he counts his money.

I started writing stories when I was very young. I get inspired by people and things that I go through in my own life... I have read almost nothing but crime novels for years so I wanted to see if I could pull it off... I am currently working on Heir to Misfortune, the second title in the DI Frank Lyle mystery series.
